My bathroom was long over due for a update. When we purchased the house five years ago it was brown and dark. So I just painted it lighter colors and redid the vanity to a distressed cream. And we lived with it, mostly because it was my youngest's bathroom. He finally moved out and it was time.
brown vanity before first attempt to brighten
This is before I had painted the vanity a distressed cream color. Counters were old and we came across a granite countertop which was the right size and only 40.00 dollars.

New countertop was installed.
Old look of vanity
five years ago painted distressed. It worked for the time been.
New cabinets colors
I had decided to go with a gray for my vanity and cabinet. I painted the walls a white and wainscot a light gray. Which was colors I already had around the house. I am a little bit of a paint hoarder! I added a small amount of chalk paint I had went for it.
New mirror frame with dry brush staining
My husband and I striped off the old mirror frame and put up a wood frame that I dry brushed with different color stains and paints.
Light changes when the lights are on
I think the best part was the vanity light. It was a bronze with cream globes. We spray painted the light and globes a flat black. It looks really neat when the light is on.

And just as good with the light off.
got a piece of wood out of wood pile
I had bought the hooks at a yard sale for 40 cents a piece and made into a towel rack. Again I dry stained with many colors.
Hit the wood pile again
I stained the wood the same as other accessories and went to hardware store to get toilet paper holder parts.
This is my favorite thrift store makeover.
Did a wood slice mirror, I will post this next.
added some humor into the bathroom.
Painted oak frame and remove ugly picture to make this. Got the cricut machine for my birthday and been having fun with it.
My husband favorite saying became art when I recycled and ugly oak picture frame and had fun with my cricut.
Added thrift store shower curtain
I love how it turned out a whole new bathroom.
