Wooden Bead Trivet

Such an easy craft but such a statement accessory for your home! A fresh modern take on trivets.

Ever since I made some adorable key chains with wooden beads, my mind has been spinning with more uses for those funky little beads. I love these beads painted in bright colors, but I also love them left natural. And when paired with leather cording, they take on an organic, earthy feel. So I left them natural for this project – a wooden bead trivet.

Cut a piece of leather cording about 55″ long. Thread it through one of the smallest beads, then secure with a knot.

Next, continue stringing the first row of beads in the following sequence: polygon, medium, polygon, large, polygon, medium, polygon (as shown in photo below).

To begin the second row, add one small bead, then a polygon shaped bead. Before continuing, secure the two polygon beads (as shown below) with a hot glue gun.

Continue stringing the second row, using the same bead sequence as the first one. Glue the polygon beads together with a small dab from your glue gun. Once dry, gently pull the leather cording tight. You will notice the smallest bead on the end rests between the two rows.

Continue stringing beads until you have 5 completed rows. Glue the polygon beads together as you go, gently tightening the cording after completing each row. After adding the very last small bead, secure it with a knot.

And now, my friend, you are finished! Such an easy craft but such a statement accessory. Use it as a coaster, trivet, or for a variety of other purposes!
