What kind of paint and how do I paint a cement porch floor?

Prep work is the key to paint that lasts. I would pressure wash first them scrub with tsp. Them use an abrasive pad on a 4 1/2 in grinder. Talk to the paint counter folks at Lowe's and home Depot for suggestions on the type of paint.

First you have to scrape, sand and clean off all of the peeling paint. You don't want that under your paint job because it can still come loose and ruin your new paint job. You definitely need to properly prep the surface or you will have 2 layers of paint coming up. I would also use a sealant that works over painted cement.

We preped our back porch, bought good paint and have had nothing but trouble with the it. It scratches all of the time. It looked good for the first couple of months then you could start to see scuff marks that kept getting bigger. It is used quite a bit. Furniture also scratches if it's accidentally slid on the painted part. And if you have a dog, don't waste your time. I just wanted to let you know what happened to me. Good luck.
