How to change my oak kitchen cabinets to a white wash look or white?

I don't understand why people want to destroy the beauty of natural wood. I would stain them if I were you. Anyone can paint cheap plywood and that would be o.k. but it is a sin to paint over beautiful oak.......just my opinion. Sorry

Simwalestate, I am with you when covering up beautiful hard wood, oak. First of all it was expensive to make them and then to me it cheapens the look. As you said above it is just my opinion. To each is own.

Seems like most have been/are painting cabinets. Cheaper than replacing them. Wood cabinets get worn, discolored, and abused over time. Even the cabinet manufacturers have caught on and offer painted cabinets. it's personal taste.
