It's not a hard and fast rule, but typically you run it the long direction through the room. This gives the illusion of a longer room. It isn't wrong, however to run it the short direction or even diagonal if it gives a pleasing effect. Occasionally, it's impractical to run it the long way because of obstacles, etc.
Either way is okay. But if you have wood flooring in the hallway or another room leading up to the bedroom, have both areas running in the same direction. Best wishes ! ☺️

You can lay it anyway you want. For something striking, lay it on the diagonal. That requires more cuts and waste, that's why that's not done more often. Or if you lay it parallel with the shortest wall, it visually widens the room. People lay flooring parallel with the longest wall because it's faster for the installer and has least waste.
At one time the different flooring was centered at the middle of the door frame but now it seems to be cut off at the edge of the hallway with a special strip to match the flooring.
