Can you put old bananas in dirt and grow a banana tree?

I am into growing fruits and vegetables from the scraps out of my kitchen. Would love to try and grow a banana tree from a old banana.

The banana is a perennial plant that replaces itself.Bananas do not grow from a seed but from a bulb or rhizome.
