A suggestion: You might want to lower the grass level that butts to the driveway to provide a better down flow for drainage into the grass area so the water doesn't pool on the hard surface.

A big hole filled with rocks then topped with sod would probably help a lot.

I would remove the grass along the edge of the driveway and put in either another drain, or a small edging of gravel to guide the water away. My guess is that either that side is slightly lower, or water is coming from a downspout nearby. Extending the downspout or guiding it away from that area may help. I used an extender piece on my one downspout and it fixed a standing water problem I was having.

we have the same issue on our back patio area, we plan on recementing the whole area so until we reach that point we plan on digging a trench and putting a weed liner down and some rocks and make a drainage ditch . Also we will be putting some groves on the cement to help lower the cement so it will drain.

It looks as if there is a situation in the cemented area. It appears that the cement cracked due to setting of the ground underneath. I have seen demonstrations on Home Improvement Shows where they are able to insert some sort of foam like material that hardens under the cement to lift it. Here's a video of what I'm talking about. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=repairing+sunken+concrete+do+it+yourself&&view=detail&mid=61D26ADBC194B48CF38B61D26ADBC194B48CF38B&&FORM=VRDGAR

Perhaps you husband can do the work if you get instructions from your local Home Depot or other hardware store. You can purchase the insulation foam in a can and try doing some of it yourself perhaps but, it may cost as much to purchase the cans of foam as it would to have a professional make the repair.

Same basic problem here on the front sidewalk along the street created by the repair process of a broken water pipe from the house. The contractors repaired the damage but the excavation took away the support under the sidewalk, causing a low area where the water puddles after a soaking rain. It freezes in the winter causing a "slip on the ice"hazard.

For now we are clearing a drain pathway from the wet area through the lawn to the street, a distance of about 3'. To enhance this mini-drain canal, we are also edging the grassy area to the max.

Just put another layer of concert on the sidewalk raising it up higher!
