They are an orange honey oak. I know I want purple to be my accent color. I live in the country on a farm and like the French country look but much husband doesn't like chippy paint.

You can still do French country without distressing your cabinets....choose an off white paint instead of bright white

You can used grapes and grape vines to create the purple accent color. I used purple in my dinning room and kitchen. Your cabinets could be a soft white or a light sage green. Choose a color you like and can live with for a while. The color should also be a color that can play well with other colors. This allows you multiple opportunities to change your accent color for a new look, without having to repaint your cabinets. I am attaching a pic of my dinning room. I painted grape vines on the wall to bring out the purple accent color.

Please excuse the mess, we are in the process of remodeling our kitchen and I have stuff piled everywhere.

    Have fun!

You could paint the cabinets a pale yellow or cream with a white glaze. It will go good with purple accents.

Painting kitchen cabinets is a big job, so make them something you can live with for several years. White will always be around. Gray is having a hot moment right now. I did a kitchen over and painted the oak cabinets black, but that kitchen had lots of light colors everywhere else. Purple should play well with any neutral.
