Fabric Wallpaper on matte walls

I want to hang fabric "wallpaper" (fabric using liquid starch) in my apartment. Can I apply it to flat paint or will it mess up the walls? I have the standard "builders paint/primer" on the walls and I don't want to have any issues when I move out some time in the next 1-1 1/2 years.

If you live in a apartment I would not attach anything to the wall.

I'm not sure what fabric wallpaper is, but I would put sizing on every wall you plan to put any type of wallpaper. However, if you are renting this apartment, you need to get the owner's permission to do anything to the walls. It probably will require you to restore the wall to original condition.

We rented when our son was a baby and I used double sided removeable tape to temporarily attach wallpaper to one wall of the nursery and used small dabs or poster putty another time. Note that both required some careful removal and clean up when you move out.

Use liquid starch to apply the fabric to the walls. Soak the fabric in the starch, wring it out and "wallpaper" the wall. It will peel off without damaging the wall. Just wash the walls down.

      Thank you William!

Will this work for the "matte" walls? I've been searching and couldn't find an answer. It seems simple and safe but I wanted to be sure.

No problem. Will work on any finish.
