Industrial Towel Bar

We have lived in this home for about 8 months and our powder room sits right off our garage. We have been in need of a sturdy towel bar that matched our homes rustic farmhouse industrial decor! I love conduit its fun, sturdy, and functional. icon

Powder room before. No towel bar we just hung the towel over the cabinet door.

I used 1/2" conduit for this project

2 = 1/2" floor flanges

2 = 1/2" x 2 pipe nipples

2 = 1/2" elbows

Here are the tools I used for the project:

Drill with Phillips tip

Magnetic level

Pencil

Tape measure

Sharpie marker

Stud finder

Pipe cutter

8 Phillips head sheet-rock screws

Here is the floor flange, pipe nipple, and elbow put together for each side of the towel bar.

I measured a hand towel to make sure that I was making the towel bar far enough apart that the towel would hang properly.

I measured and marked around the pipe with the red sharpie marker.

Tip: Be sure to take into account the pipe going into the ends of the elbows when measuring your pipe. icon

Using a pipe cutter I cut the 1/2" conduit to the size I wanted for the towel bar.

This is the wall I decided to put the towel bar on.

I first used the stud finder to look for studs because I want the towel bar in the studs to make sure it's sturdy! Next I marked the wall studs and screwed one bracket into place. I placed the towel bar into the first bracket, then put the second bracket onto the opposite end of the towel bar pushing against the other side to ensure it was snug, I placed the level on the towel bar once it was level I finally screwed in the last bracket into the wall.

The towel bar came out great and just fits behind the door without rubbing the door.

Good project! I have been wanting to try some dyi with those pipes. I just can't decide what i want to make, lol. Nice bathroom, and congratulations on the new house.
