Hot water pipes clanking when I turn on faucet. What to do?

When I turn on the hot water in the bathroom or kitchen I hear a clanking? sound. What to do?

The banging is pressure or air in the line. Each line should have air in it but in the right place called an air chamber. Since the problem is with the hot water side it may indicate a problem with the hot water heater. There is something you can do first to try and resolve this problem. Open all the hot water faucets in the house and turn off the hot water supply at the water heater. Let the system completely drain. Then turn all the faucets off and slowly turn the hot water fill line on. Let it fill slow and steady. Don't crank it up to full speed fill. Hopefully the water will fill and the air will be in the chamber like it is suppose to be.
It is from an imbalance of air and pressure. The noise is it working out the imbalance. I do not know anything can be done, but you could talk to someone at your local home improvement store. They may be able to assist you with some suggestions.
We were told to run the hot water for a while to allow the caught air out.
