do you mean WD40? You can try Vaseline or cooking oil if you don't want to buy anything special.
A dry lubricant spray works well, is inexpensive and is non-messy. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Prime-Line-9-oz-Dry-Film-Spray-Lubricant-RZ-50-4A24/100559191
Cooking oil is plant based and can spoil then you have a smell, better to use Vaseline.

I use silicone spray.
Mayonnaise - Olive oil? Hand cream.........
Mayo, any oil, oily salad dressings in a pinch-sparingly.
Anything that has a slight oil base in it. Even cooking oil...apply sparingly and open & close the door so the product gets into the hinges.
OMG, these answers are INSANE. Oils go rancid.
Remove the hinge pins ONE AT A Time and clean them
well with some Wet And Dry. Brush on a light coat of
white lithium grease (very inexpensive) a small tube will
last you forever.
Re-install the pin and go to the next ones.
I have used this for over 3,000 doors in High Rise Commercial
buildings, they get 20 times more use in 1 day.
Stay away from WD-40, it is a good product but everyone
thinks it is a Lubricant, WRONG it is a CLEANER
I agree with Lori. A lot of dumb suggestions. Any oily product will attract dirt. WD40 works great but is a lubricant and doesn't stop squeaks. Use withe silicone spray lube. Leaves a coating on the hinges. Lithium grease will also do the job.
