What to do if blinds won't fit inside window? Don't like outside

We recently had new windows installed. Now there isn't enough space inside the frame to put blinds up, and putting them outside isn't appealing to me. Is there a solution or will I just have to live with them being outside?

Get the kind that say you can cut them to fit.

It depends on what type of blinds they are, if rollwr blinds you can gernally cut them to fit, with venetian blinds, cutting the slats is simple but time consuming amd you have to make sure you account for the ficings abd the turning mechanisms. I have had to do that in both my bathroom and my bedroom and it is well worth it.

You can get blind cutters at any diy store or you can do it by hand with scissors if you are careful but youll need a small saw for the overhead track and make sure to measure the space you have to fit into, how kuch you can take off from each side etc but it is possible!

First of all what style of blinds do you want to put up- venetian, roller, etc.?

Next, are you referring to not enough space vertically, to install the blind mounting hardware (at the top of the inside of the window) or not enough space horizontally? (the old blind is too wide for the narrower window width).

Something else to consider in mounting window coverings inside the window trim- how to the windows open- is there a crank, sash, etc?

A picture showing what you have to work with will narrow down exactly what the dilemma is.

I need help with this same issue. The problem is not getting blinds cut to fit. The problem is that they cannot be mounted inside the window frame. I do no want my blinds on the outside either. I didn’t realize I would have this problem. I may have reconsidered the windows. How did you resolve it?

  If you're interested, Pella sells windows with blinds between the glass panels, so they rarely require cleaning. You can purchase the type that moves up and down, or the tilting type.

Echoing Crystal's question. Did anyone find a solution to this? I am considering getting some epoxy and some L-brackets to try to mount them from the front but so the blinds themselves are on the inside of the frame.

I had quotes fm Pella, Window World and a local supplier. NONE mentioned that our hanging venetian blinds might not fit back in the window. Unfortunately, we didn't think about it either :( Some replacement windows offer blinds inside the double pane windows at an additional cost. I wish we would have consider this; I think it might have been less expensive and look better in the long run ??
