Paint it any pastel color, put some nice artwork on the walls. If the doors are of dark wood, paint them just off white, high gloss. Take the door down to paint it, and some new chrome hardware for the hinges and door knob.
Paint the walls a light color; add mirrors to reflect what light may be available.
Light paint, mirrors to reflect any existing light, if there is a hall light already there, make sure you use as high a wattage bulb as the fixture is rated for and the shade is white, or clear.

Use a light colored paint in an eggshell finish which will reflect more light.
In addition to the above answers, look at the floor, is that dark as well? If so a light runner might help.
