You get an idea in your head (that is the problem right there…LOL).

You know, a specific vision….of exactly what you need to complete a room….and you CAN’T FIND IT anywhere!!!

So what do you do? Well here you go again….another DIY!!!!

I was creating a farmhouse nursery for a dear friend and wanted a 36″ heart as the feature piece above a baby bed. I wanted specific colors and decoupaged slats AND custom-painted name! Well of course, I had to make it myself. Here’s how I brought my vision into reality!

I used larger sheets of brown packing paper to make my own pattern, a heart in this case. I then laid out randomly sized planks (you can even use scraps), and then traced my heart pattern onto the wood and cut!

Next I painted, stained and decoupaged tissue paper with 1 Gel onto each plank according to my “vision”. I love the decoupaged look, and it works very well with the farmhouse theme. I then lightly sanded down the decorated planks. I wanted to distress the wood so the grain would be very visible. You can see the wood grain on the center gray board. Isn’t that fabulous??? I then glued the decorated individual planks together according to my cut pattern. It was the exact look I was after.
