Ideas to restore a Victorian bird cage?

I want to restore a Victorian Bird Cage. I believe it is mahogany but not 100% sure. If anyone can offer any help it would be greatly appreciated

    could you post a pictur, first of the bird cage then a close up of the wood so the color an graining of the wood show up? Each type of wood, in its natural state will have its own grain ing pattern. & Natural color. If any one crafts with wood..a lot..they will recognize the grain pattern and species of tree.

    It looks like the birdcage could use some oil. Try danish oil and see what that does. You could wipe or brush it on. What an amazing piece
