Do you have an easy way of making a breakfast island?

if you could use the storage, go to a ReStore and get some tall upper kitchen cabinets. I suggest uppers because they’re taller, and while they are shallow, you won’t lose 2016 cans of fruit in the back. And cabinets have substantial weight. Paint to match, screw and glue them together and get some butcher block, or a yard-sale tabletop for the top.

Easiest I’ve seen is to use a dresser. Cut off legs, add locking wheels and add a new, larger top of your choice (plywood with tile, granite, whatever you can afford). You can make one side stick out farther so stools will fit underneath for additional seating. The hardest part I would think is getting it the right height. Not sure how to raise it up if needed but there are lots of YouTube videos of turning furniture into islands.

Plus, drawers for storage in a kitchen are so much more functional than cabinets! Change the hardware to go with your look and paint the dresser a nice color to compliment the rest of your kitchen.

Two chests-of-drawers or two bookcases with a flat door over the tops should give storage space and stool space for a nice and easy island. Post on Hometalk what you do to make your island! ☺️

My daughter took her old desk and painted it, added ceramic tile to the top, and attached caster wheels. Then she had a small movable island for her tiny country kitchen. Perfect breakfast island size. Plus the 3 drawers added more storage for her kitchen.
