My husband had gone to the grocery store and on his way back he saw this sitting on the curb waiting to be thrown away or rescued. I jumped in his truck and he took me to look at it, there was a gentleman outside and said we could take it. So we began to load it up, It was heavy Solid wood. It’s Painted an awful lime green and ugly. But we Got it loaded and took it home I said ok I’m going to paint it with dark blue chalk paint with gold handles and barnwood shelves.
I wiped it down and thought oh goodness is this gonna work out how I have it pictured ?
Once it was cleaned up it was looking better and be beautiful dark blue.
I began sanding off as much as I could to get it as smooth as possible. then started with my blue chalk paint I mixed myself. It’s a Walmart brand paint and primer in one, I mixed calcium carbonate in a jar of warm water into a sour cream consistency then added it to my paint in another mason jar. I began painting, I loved the color but once I started sanding it To smooth I didn’t like it. It was to dark.
It just looked messy to me!! Ugh so I start over
So I decided on gray, I sanded it down again using a 150 grit sanding block and cleaned it up with TSP and this stuff works great at getting funk and grease off my furniture. Once it dried I did the same thing as above with my gray paint, calcium carbonate and paint and primer in one. This time I sprayed the cabinet with the paint sprayer instead of using a paint brush.I Applied a couple of coats of water based polycyclic To seal it.
and here she is all finished
i bought the gold handles from Etsy and love them I never put the barnwood shelves. My girlfriend didn’t want any shelf’s In it.
i love the gold handles with the gray. I ended up giving this to a friend and she loves it.
