Purchased a new electric stove Jenair, now I have one of the burners that seems impossible to remove the grease or whatever it is from that burner.

Please post a pic of your JennAire range. They make different style units. I have a Jenn-Aire & I'll gladly help you soon as I know which range you have.

Is this one of those "down draft" inside grill type tops? Or is it a flat top?

Some of the units have removable modules. Those modules come 2 different ways. Some burner elements simply lift up & pull out from center of the burner hole. Try to lift up & pull out toward the outside edge of the range top. If it's removable, it will come out easily. If it does not pull out, then the unit you have has elements that lift "up" in a hinged fashion where the electrical connections are & should be cleaned under without trying to remove them as they are NOT removable.

Hope this helps explain which unit you have & how to clean it.

make a paste of baking soda and water and use it to clean the area...to keep it damp, i use a wet paper towel. leave it on until it starts to dry. rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary.

Baking soda, peroxide, and Dawn dish soap. Sprinkle the soda on the cook top, splash on a little peroxide (it will foam), then dribble the dish soap over it. Work it around with your fingers. You can feel the junk, so you know where to concentrate your efforts. Give it time. You can use a steel wool pad at this point. Wipe and rinse off. I got a plastic spatula that burned onto my cook top off with this
