Buy a grass seed purposed for partial shade and you should be fine
There is both shade and sun grass seed. I would go to the scotts Web site where you can find both types of seed.
Apply several inches of top soil, lime grass seed for you hardiness zone that is used for sun and shade, top with starter fertilizer and cover with peat moss. Make sure the seed is moist at all times
Scotts. com has a product called Thick'R Lawn and one of thoise blends is for Sun and Shade.
