I have a very small shower in one of my bathrooms. What were we thinking when we built our house thirty plus years ago? Cleaning it is difficult because of the size. I just plan on getting soaked when I rinse the cleanser from the sides and bottom. Cleaning and rinising the door is definitely a soaker. I have tried many shower sprays, to mist the shower with after each use to protect it from water build up. The following are steps I take to keep the shower and sink sparkling clean and fresh.
In order to help keep my shower clean, I use a daily shower spray. First and very important I start with a clean shower. My go-to-cleaner has always been Comet. I have used Comet for as long as I can remember cleaning. My supplies are simple Comet, a rag and an old toothbrush and follow-up with a shower spray.
1. I pour out a small amount of Comet in the botttom of the shower and mix water with the power to make a paste.
2. I dip my rag in the paste and begin making circular motions on the sides, top and bottom of the shower to remove the soap and water scum. I work quickly so the paste will not dry before I can rinse it off with water.
3. If you use an electric toothbrush, you can always pick up some up at the Dollar Tree. They are handy cleaning tools. I use the toothbrush to scrub around the drain and water handles in the shower.
4. Then I rinse the entire area with water until there is no evidence of the Coment paste. To clean the top, I rinse my rag and rub the top of the shower.
I follow the same steps for my 33 year old shower door.
This daily shower spray is the best I have ever used and it smells great. It is plant-based and non toxic. I am not receiving any compensation from this company. I appreciate when someone shares products that work for them. I thought you might too. I order this product from Grove Collaborative. It is reasonably priced, works great and the fresh smell lingers for quite a while.
5. I spray the shower and the door daily after showering. I am amazed at how well this spray works in repelling water build-up.
I also follow the same steps to clean the vanity sink.
Using an old toothbrush to clean around the tight areas of the faucet, is the only way I have found to throughly cleanse the back of the sink. I then spray the sink to help with water build-up.
The shower spray comes in two scents, ylang-ylang and eucalytus mint. My favorite is the eucalotus mint, but both scents are nice.
I have never made my own spray, but I did find this site with directions for making your own shower spray in case you want to have-a-go at making your own spray. See the link below. Happy cleaning!
