How to stain cement porch so it's less slippery?

The slick finish concrete in addition to the stain creates a tremendous hazard I'm sure. Ive seen 100's of porches like this. I do concrete work and my only advice is to look for a speckled slip resistant garage floor kit. You can find various colored speckles. It's a process and most of them are ugly because they're designed for garage floors. But if you search online I'm sure you could find a color scheme that would work. The speckles are spread over a thin clear coat of adhesive then sealed in with a clear coat. It gives the surface a rough grip and works great but being a porch the finished look will be your concern.

There is also paint that has a fine sand in it that can be applied. I have also seen people who have put roofing material on the stairs (it needs to be a pretty material to look good).

I've used the sand paint on a wall. Think you can just add sand to whatever paint you're using.
