How to cover ugly drain pipes (3”) in ceiling of lower level bathroo

So many places are going with the industrial look on exposed pipes so either black or maybe a copper. Really depends on how much time you want to spend on it and how much of a focal point you want it to be.

Is that an attic above? The pipes can be put inside the ceiling and walls. I think. I know my plumber could fix it.

I would paint them gold to make them look classy.... or, since they look like tree branches, you could paint them brown and stencil leaves all over the ceiling.

If you don't want to box them it to conceal, then I would make them the same color as the ceiling or wall so it blends in.

I just had laundry center put on 2nd floor, the drain pipe was run thru the two floors, then down the wall. Any good plumber can do it. It will not be cheap, but it sure is going to increase the value of your house, and look better, too.

Before doing anything I’d call a plumber got an estimate on replacement. Pipes are now vinyl and 1” diameter. If that’s a no go, I think the flowering vine idea intriguing.

Go to Davesgarden.com where they list shade loving flowering vines in Florida. Buy a real plant (which hopefully they also sell in “silk” and put it on a stand (which could have storage even if you have to cut out part of the back). When the plant is in place, paint (or install the silk) appropriate vines and some flowers, just enough to be realistic Or winsome. Offer the real vine something to climb.

Or if you’ve room, put shelves up the wall with the cutouts for the pipes and fill with lovely moisture and shade loving plants in neat containers. No one will care about the pipes on the ceiling. Possibly herbs too if you don’t use aerosol products.

Those pipes you are talking about are not for drainage! LOL. I think your idea of covering with vine stuff will call attention to the problem!

You could also drape fabric over it to achieve a canopy effect.

Since it is in a bathroom, you could put up a hanging pothos and let the branches and leaves grow to cover the pipes. I remember my sister in law literally covered her living room ceiling with just one or two plants. Until they grow to cover them, you could just paint on the vines and it will even get more coverage as they grow to cover the pipes. We have one in a bedroom that is taking over the entire corner and it is just one plant we purchased at home depot and repotted into a hanging pot.

EXCUSE ME! WE HAD A MISCOMMUNICATION !! I SAID YOUR PIPES ARE DRAINAGE. I WAS SPEAKING TO THE PERSON ABOVE. THE VINYL 1" PIPES ARE NOT FOR DRAINAGE, THEY ARE FOR WATER SUPPLY. SORRY, I DIDN'T MAKE THAT CLEAR.
