We've designed a created this awesome wooden headboard for you to build (thanks to a partnership with Annie Sloan chalk paint). This is perfect for coastal or farmhouse style! You can customize the colors for your home. See color samples here.
Make sure to watch our video tutorial for the complete process. Sometimes it's much easier to follow a project when you have video footage.
Head over to Remodelaholic.com to get the free, printable building plans. Once you have those, you can cut the wood to size. We used a miter saw and a table saw to cut the pieces for the headboard.
Attach the headboard piece to the frame pieces using screws and glue.
Draw on the lines for your pieced patterns. You can use our plan or create your own!
Cut and miter the rustic pieces that make up the outer frame.
Use a carpenter square to find the angles of the pieced boards you will cut. Cut the longest pieces first and work each section at a time.
Starting with the longest boards first, cut and miter them to size.
Working 1 board at a time, cut and lay out your pattern. Don't attach the pieces yet. Then, sand the pieces.
Now, get you color groove on. We brushed these to get an antique look and then sanded them a little. After your chalk paint is dry, use wax and buff to a gorgeous shine.
Finally, it's time to put it all together! We glued and nailed the pieces in place, then attached the rustic frame.
What a fabulous and colorful addition! We hope you enjoy it.
