Drywall/paint advice

A drywaller told us that he would have to paint the gyproc with first a chalk paint and then a primer to prevent the tanning (dark color of the paper) from bleeding through. I have checked with another drywaller and paint stores and they know nothing about this. Paint stores say to just use a sealer/primer in one. Does anyone have experience with this?

I never heard of that either. I think he just wants to line his pockets. Priming with a good stain blocking primer is all that's needed.
That sounds goofy. Primer is what you need
sounds like he may be hungry looking for a bigger check LOL try the primer!
Kilz primer will cover almost anything, then paint as usual.
I've only had a problem with blue bleeding thru. I'd trust the paint store !!!
you were definitely mis informed.New dry wall must be primed with at lease two coats of primer
