When to plant bermuda grass (seeds) in Texas

Depends on where you are in Texas. In North Texas around the Dallas Fort Worth area over seeding your grass should be around the end of April after real frost threats are gone. Further south perhaps a bit earlier. Calloway always has good experts who can help guide you in you’re area.

When it’s a constant 70 degrees and up. Or at least in West Texas that’s what we wait for!

Depending on where you are, you can plant Bermuda grass in Texas anytime except Dec.-Feb., and except August. The grass is pretty tough as long as the sunlight, earth and water/drainage are sufficient. You don’t want the seed to fall into dry cracks, or the new leaves to burn in the sun before they can grow strong. You will have to weed a lot. And St. Augustine can creep in unless you are diligent. But Bermuda can create a dense, dark green lawn. 😀
