Is there help for my patio?

We have a 12’x12’ slab surrounded by the house on three sides. The southern side is open. The east side has tall shrubs between the patio and the house. The north end is a long tall wall of windows from the family room inside. I have a glass topped round table and two nice chairs. I have an old steel large folding table on the west wall where I did some planting last year. Totally devoid of color and interest. Ideas, please? ☺️

Pinterest is THE place to go for design and decorating ideas. The site is rather difficult to use but keep trying and you will find lots of ideas to make your back yard into a look that pleases you.

The cheapest and easiest way to add color and interest is to brighten up the cushions, add some colorful plants and maybe hang some kind of curtain or put in a divider if you need the privacy. The old steel table can be painted with a nice color metal paint to brighten it up. Buy the cushions and then select a color from the cushions to paint the table. Add a nice vase or décor to match the color of your metal table.

It sounds like the area is not very well lit so you could start off with some rope light under the eaves of the House. Give the cement a good cleaning or pressure washing and then add an indoor/ outdoor rug. This will make it feel more like a living space. Cushions and plants will definitely help to brighten the space. You may want to take the folding table down and add a seating area in the corner to make better use of the space. Think of the area the same way you would a room in your home! Have fun!

Use a shade cloth/sail cloth triangular canopy to break up the right angles and make a pleasantly shaded area. It will also help the interior of your home stay cool
