I have that corner gas fireplace in my upstairs living room which is a foolish place to place it in the first place but can I take it apart and move it to the lower level of my home where it could utilized? After using it for five minutes in the front room we have to turn it off because we are burning up and the rest of the house is still cold especially the lower level ! I can apart but I cannot take the gas out! I would like to place wood flooring over it but how do you seal off the gas line?

I can find no information on actually moving the fireplace. Here are some videos that may help you. When there is gas and gas lines involved I'm thinking you might want to call a professional to come in or, at least, give you some safety information. Be careful when working with gas!!

I would recommend have a professional do this for you, there are dangers that come with dealing with natural gas, should not be too costly as you have everything there already.
You need a plumber. Cap off (and or disconnect) the gas line and run a new one to your new location at the lower level.

I have rehabbed dozens of homes and have done alot of the tasks that come with that. Sometimes you need to bring in professionals. This is one of those cases. Call a plumber that does work on gas lines. ENJOY your new fireplace.......safely.
You can move it with no problem. The existing gas line would need to be capped off and disconnected at the gas source and also capped off. If it can be totally removed the better. Cannot have an unused gas line filled with gas. The gas line you have to connect to would need to be checked out and pressure tested so that it can be safely used. That is where the plumber comes in.

A plumber works on gas lines/pipes too! Most places require permits and plumbers to do ANY work on gas lines. While I have done so MANY remodeling projects, gas lines are beyond the scope of my expertise. When it comes to gas lines, think safety first.
