When is the best time to prune it back and not lose the blooms for next year?

    lilac blooms should be pruned off 6 weeks after they have finished blooming. I have cut the branches back hard at the same time. Cut out old branches

    Cut all old blooms off every year. What I do is give bouquets to everyone I know

    Just after the flowers fade. Lilacs will set the next seasons buds almost immediately, so don't wait or you will risk losing next year's blooms.
