With baby number 3 arriving any day and a closet that had no room to fit any of her new and adorable baby girl clothes, I decided to tackle the overwhelming problem of closet organization.
The closet was filled with my two older boys clothes and an overwhelming assortment of toys, books, sheets and towels. After rearranging and purging a few non essentials, I found three things that can help anyone to create an organized kids closet that will look amazing!
As you can see, the closet was a mixed up mess. Not only was it full of clothes, but also random toys, books and storage for our small bathroom next door.

Step one: Purge unused or old items
The most helpful thing you can do to organize any space is to first purge all of the accumulated things that are not needed. I got rid of clothes that didn’t fit, and a lot of things that were stored in there and we hadn’t used in a while. This helped to open up a lot of space. (This is where your trash bags will come in handy.)
Step two: Decorate
While this step isn’t necessarily a must, it is always fun to add a little color and pizzazz to any space. I think it makes a huge difference, and helps you to respect your space even more. To spruce things up, I added some mint green paint to the walls, as well as some sparkly gold circle decals that I made with vinyl and my cricket machine. These decals are removable, so they make easy wall decorations that can easily be changed.
I also used coordinating bins (gold and silver mermaid –my favorite) and copper metal just to create a cohesive and stylish feel.
Step three: Separate and organize your closet
Once you know what you would like to keep, you are going to want to organize everything in a way that makes sense to you. I chose to use bins to separate different items.
I created labels for each bin so they would continue to hold the correct items and not get mixed up. Click here for a free label file. I also used my Cricut machine to make some hanger separators so I could separate different sized baby clothes. (They grow so fast

) Click here for the file.I utilized my shelf space for all of the leftover books, games and toys. I also added some smaller metal bins for things like socks, hair bows and wash cloths.
The final thing I did to organize my space is to add a closet hanging rod to give an additional section for the baby clothes.
