How to fix cracks in painted cabinets?

After seeing all the posts about painting cabinets, I did mine!! They look great! That was last summer. Now I have cracks along the panels! Is caulk the answer? What kind?? Or will the cracks disappear with the heat of summer?
I have had better luck with using wood putty .. you can get the uncolored one then when it dries ...sand it lightly and paint ...you can also buy a thinner for the putty if you find it too thick to work with ...good luck
You should use wood putty. Sand first, apply putty, sand again, prime if you primed when you painted, paint.

I would go with a quality paintable caulk, faster than putty and no sanding. Tape off the area you don't need it (but you don't have to be precise). Lay the caulk down, and put on a latex glove. Spray your gloved fingers with cooking spray, and smooth it out. You'll be amazed at these results. Let it dry a couple of days, clean off any cooking spray residue, and repaint.
You might try getting in the groove :) with the brush bristles and add a little more paint. You might need to repeat a few times. Let it dry between. It may be all you need. Sure worth the try, IMHO.
You could also try filling slightly with a patching (spackle) medium that is white, remove residue, let dry and touch up.
I agree with caulk - get the kind you use in the bathroom (around wet surfaces), place a very thin bead in the cracks and run a wet finger down it to smooth out and work some down into the crack. I would use a color close to your paint color if you can find it; or after applying white caulk and letting it set according to directions, I would water down a small amount of your cabinet color paint and apply it with a small water color brush on the caulk only - see how it "takes." You may need to start with just a very little water and see how the finish comes out. I think the paint shouldn't crack if it is slightly diluted when applied.
I cleaned out the crack first, then caulked. Cleaned crack with the pointed end of a beer/pop can opener. The edge of the opener was less sharp. Good Luck!
Hello, I would use a caulk and touch in the paintwork. General purpose should be fine.
