Mother's Day Tea

Create a memorable event for that special mother by hosting a family tea outside in the backyard.
Set out a folding table under a tree and cover it with a piece of fabric. I bought this floral fabric from the remnant bin at the local sewing store.
Set your table with a mix and match of plates and china cups for a casual feel.
Filling a variety of bottles, vases and glass containers with blooms from the garden kept the cost down but added a punch of colour.
Hit the bakery for small treats and cookies. Making your own tea sandwiches is time consuming, but can cut down on the cost a lot as store bought ones can be expensive.
Get out all those seldom used china pieces like this three tiered cake stand and china cups and saucers.
Add some fun for the little ones by dipping strawberries in chocolate. Setting them in a footed compote adds to the elegance of the event.
We all wore sun dresses and hats, even my little great-niece wore hers!
We had a wonderful afternoon honouring my mother along with my sisters, daughter, nieces and great-nieces. A day we will never forget.
