# How do you determine the # of blocks needed to create a 3 ft fire pit.

Determine the circumference of the circle = = 9.426 ft.
and divide it by the width of your blocks.

depends on the size of the blocks. 1' x 1' would = 9 blocks

You could make a paper or cardboard template the size and shape of the fire pit you want to build. Then measure the template and measure the style of your chosen brick. From their you can get an idea of what you want and it will help you make any changes if you see you would prefer something different than your original ideas. You could even use some of those toy cardboard stacking blocks and arrange them around the pit. (you could donate them to some single parent with small kids after you are through with them). It would be worth an inexpensive prop to determine what you need to know and what you prefer.
