DIY Floral Frame

It’s no secret that I adore springtime.

I love the bright vibrant green grasses and leaves springing up everywhere, but the floral show just does me in.

This year I'm grabbing the spring zing and making it last long after the last delicate bloom fades.

Along with the gorgeous floral show of spring we've been basking in for a few weeks, this project was also inspired by our daughter, who made her appearance on the first day of spring ten year ago.

I can hardly grasp that an entire decade has passed since I first held that fresh bundle of perfect sweetness!

So I headed off to Michael's and browsed their spring floral collection - which was already 60% off - and settled on a few sprigs of pink and white blooms.

I also grabbed a 3-photo frame and a bottle of pink paint - to match the palest blooms.
I won't belabor the details, but I've got to say that choosing paint is an experience all its own for me.

I. Adore. Paint!

I decided to use a pink that matched the blooms so that any of the frame that peeked through wouldn't shout "BARE WOOD".

A single coat worked just fine -
While the paint was drying, I picked the flowers off the stems - then admired that gorgeous pile of forever blooms. Unlike the quickly-fading flowers in our yard, these sweeties will last!
Then the glue gun and I became BFF's for about an hour.

This wasn't what I would call a super quick project, but it did give me time to catch up on some Spotify and eat a ton of chocolate-covered Craisins. icon
The only "method" I used was mixing up the colors and sizes of blooms to get a nice random mix.
When it was finally finished, the only sight of pink was along the edges.

But I LOVED the thick and bunchy arrangement of blooms.
Then I began the near-impossible task of choosing only three pictures to highlight 10 years of life!

How even do you do that?

In the end, I just took a deep breath and chose 3 that were easy to grab and print.

The spring blooms are already fading in our yard, but my DIY Floral Frame will last long after next year's buds begin peeking out again. Plus, it's such a versatile project - I can whip one up for most any season!
