Curtain ideas for this tricky bedroom window?

Unless you go custom, the least expensive way would be to install a rod just below the ceiling and hang curtains or drapes. I am partial to double rods so that sheers can be placed underneath, yet still let light in, and curtains to coordinate with the decor.

Such beautiful windows! However, I can certainly understand the need for privacy while still allowing for light during the day. Hang ceiling to floor curtains that provide privacy when closed yet allow full view of the beautiful windows when open.

You could just put a straight rod above the window on the wall and hand your drapes as you normally would! Another idea would be to use some stained glass techniques on those top area of glass and hand the rod straight across just below the stain glass area. It let some light in and give your daughter a pretty window to look at/out of and cast some other colors on her walls at night from any outside light shinning in!

You could put up two curtains; one sheer for constant privacy and the other a grommet drape to pull aside to get the most light when required. You can also purchase the drapes with a room darkening backing. You would need a double rod for this.

I would hand the rod at the top of the wall and I would leave room on either side so that the shape of the window can be seen when the curtains are pulled back

JC Penney is known to have great sales on customized window treatments, you might want to speak to their specialist if you have one near your location.

Interior wooden shade levelour blinds with locks. They can be open in the daytime so she can get some sunlight and then tilted up at night so no one can see in at night. I would limit that minimal view left with drapes.

Most of the above are great, but I can’t help but ask how many other windows are on this side of the house, because I think you’d like some consistency from the outside.

The windows are gorgeous. I’d do full length from ceiling to floor, but left open most of the time so you can see arches. Then 3/4 (shoulder height +) to the floor. Substantial enough weight, like a linen, to actually give privacy.

Mind you, I also love up/down shades.

I would buy pull-down shades for each section. Then add a set of curtains or drapes to slide over all 3 panels for room darkening. That way you can control the amount of light and privacy.
