Do you say what sort of wall it is? Are there actually studs but they just are not in the right place or is it a cinderblock wall? How you solve the problem will depend on how handy you are and what sort of look you want. (1)One solution for a cinderblock wall is to fur it out with wood and put drywall over that. Attach the furring to the cinderblock with anchors (the people at the hardware store can show you what to use for your specific application) and make sure you have furring where you want to attach the TV before you put the drywall on. This gives you the added advantage of being able to create channels for the cable and electrical connections so they are hidden behind the TV. Put up and finish the drywall, and attach the mounting bracket as if it were part of the original stud wall. This is the cleanest solution, but it requires quite a bit of time and skill to finish the dry-wall. (2) for cinderblock or brick that you wish to leave showing, use those same anchors that you would have used to attach furring to the wall to mount the bracket directly on the existing wall. Depending on what you use to anchor, you will likely need to get a masonry bit to drill pilot holes for the anchors, and you may need to use epoxy to get a good grip. Decide where you need your mounting bolts, drill, install anchors and mount. (3) If your stud constructed wall just doesn't have studs where you need them, you can use heavy duty molly bolts or wall anchors. Again you can get advice at the hardware store. Tell them how heavy the TV is, and they'll help you pick out something in your skill level. You will need to drill pilot holes for this as well. (4) An alternative with an existing stud wall that just doesn't have the studs where you need them is to make a solid piece to hold the mounting bracket with good stout boards and mount the mounting bracket onto the boards, then attach the larger boards to the wall where there are actually studs. Build a frame around it just larger than the TV, and you can hide those pesky cables and power cords, too! Good luck.

Mine came with instructions for cinder block wall. There should be instructions for metal studs.
