How do you update a 1950’s bedroom set?

It is from a store Daniel Jones that was in NYC. Made when quality mattered. But, it is walnut ( fruitwood ) with small beautiful
blue wedge wood knobs and wedgewood inlays. How can I update the bedroom with paint, lamps, accessories. Includes a triple dresser, men’s high chest , 2 end tables and head board. Looks very matchy. The room is painted off white and off white window treatments it looks very bland. I’m afraid if I paint the wrong color blue it will go from one boring look to another.

Take the knob to the paint store and ask for advice for complementary colors rather than trying to match. a dark blue, orange, peach, red, yellow, green, brass or chrome in fixtures/lamps.
