How to dry moss

    put it in a brown paper bag, close it up and wait. It will dry nicely check every once in a while to see progress. Give it a good week before checking.

    I don’t like to dry moss in an oven because it can burn so easily. But you need to have the oven hot enough to kill the bugs. Place the moss in a paper bag, staple the top shut, and put it in a baking pan with sides. 325* for 20 minutes should be enough. Do not open the bag for several hours, then open it outside. Use scissors to cut open the bag and let all the little critters, dead and alive, to escape.

    Another way is to spread the moss on a baking sheet in the sunshine, shaking the pan to discourage bugs from staying. Include as little dirt as you can. It will take several hot days to dry the moss.
