When I spotted this unusual picture frame at a thrift store, I knew exactly how I wanted to upcycle it: as a DIY, steampunk style pocket watch to hang on the wall! You can get my full tutorial here for all the details!
Isn't this an unusual picture frame? From the moment I laid eyes on it, it looked like a pocket watch to me. So I decided that I would transform it into one in just a few steps!
First, I took it all apart, which was easy- removing the metal hardware and the small individual frames that were embedded in the round wood frame.
I wanted the smaller frames to really POP, so I painted the wood frame a dark bronze color and simply touched up the brass hardware/circles with similarly colored brass paint.
Then came the fun part- turning it into a pocketwatch with little vintage watch faces. If you're curious about what I used for each face, head to my blog post for all the info!
And that was it- my pocket watch wall decor was complete! It's perfect for our industrial chic style home office- isn't it so fun? And all from a thrift store picture frame.
