I have had these vintage tables hanging out in the garage for over a year. I FINALLY decided to give them a facelift, and find them a new home.
I took the tables apart to make sanding and painting easier! Then I started sanding them down. Using my orbital sander, I sanded the tops down to bare wood (started with a 120 grit and finished with 220).
The rest of the tables needed to be roughened up for the paint to adhere.
Forgot to snap a picture of basecoating, but I have them a quick coat of flat black paint. Then started the chalk paint.
I stained out the tops with minwax ebony stain, and sealed with wipe on poly.
Once I was done with chalk paint. I lightly distressed the table pieces with a 320 grit sandpaper. I went over the whole table lightly with the sandpaper to provide a smooth finish.
I applied a light coat of poly, and started to glaze. I love this Valspar glaze! I brushed it on around the grooves, and then wiped with a damp cloth. This provides a light coat of glaze to whole piece, while leaving more glaze in the grooves for an aged look.
Here you can see me wiping the glaze on one of the legs.
All those pesky little spindles needed glaze as well. Once I was done with this, I had to reassemble them!
Done! Here they are ready for their new home.

I was given a pair of these earlier this year. I didn't know what to do with them but this gives me an idea. Thank you for posting it.

They are fun pieces to flip. I have done a similar set that I painted sea-foam. Have fun! Share your project too.

Oh I have it all planned out but need to wait until this Florida heat leaves.
