Are you not a fan of projects that involve writing because you don't like your handwriting? Then learn how to create your own personalized door hanger without the need to write in your own handwriting!

Do you love those paint and wine nights or those door hanger paint parties? I do - but here's a little secret. I HATE my handwriting. So when they say "now just write (your last name, some cute phrase, whatever)" I just go refill my wine and snacks and wait for everyone else to be finished. I always tell the host "I'll just finish it at home" - but I NEVER did.

Then I figured out how to apply iron-on to wood surfaces with my Cricut Maker! Along with a little help from my EasyPress and BrightPad, I can now create personalized door hangers in no time, which means I am no longer lying to these poor host-y people.

Today, I am going to show how you can make your own personalized door hanger (by applying iron-on to wood) and how easy it is to hang those personalized door hangers!

Here are the supplies you will need:

  • Cricut Explore Air with Design Space
  • Cricut Iron-on
  • Cricut EasyPress
  • Cricut Brightpad
  • wood surface (I'm using a door hanging)
  • Command Hooks
  • Fishing Line
  • Scissors

Step 1: Cut your iron-on material using your Maker (or any other Cricut machine) - don't forget to mirror the image and put the shiny side on the mat!

Step 2: Using the BrightPad, weed your image.

Step 3: Lay your iron-on image onto your wood surface - in my case a snowman door hanger.

Step 4: Lay a towel over your image, grab your EasyPress and begin ironing your surface.

Step 5: Once you have ironed your surface, remove the towel and gently peel off the backing.

Step 6: Now that you've made it - how will you hang it? I've been using this trick for years and it works on wreaths just as well as it does on door hangers - and it doesn't ruin your door!

Hang a Command Hook UPSIDE DOWN on the back of your door. Add some fishing line to the door hanger, bring up over the top of the door, tie it to the Command Hook and cut off excess.

And voila! Now you can add all the phrase you want to your projects without the need to worry about your handwriting!
