Could you put a simple ramp down your steps to one side of the steps or out the back door? A long safe board 2 by 10 and eight feet long or something might be good enough, for example. Otherwise you could put blocks down starting at the base and thus make each step you have only half as high to make it easier to go up and down. Also carpet on a new built ramp or blocks might help. Just some ideas like we did for our little old dogs.

  • How high of a rise? If it's low, you could just stack a few pieces of high density foam. It depends on what you have available, but you can stack lots of things to make a small viewing area for a small dog.

The window is 20in from the floor and the space I have is 30in because we have the couch ending there. My chihuahua is not to comfortable with steps. I have finally found one to get on our high bed ...so my dad space is quite restrained. Am trying maybe to build with 4x1 in...stil working on it.

How high is your window? do you have a ramp? Do you have something for them to sit on once they get up there?

Wendy, that’s a nice idea. Benedi, I thought about sturdy cardboard boxes put together with double stick duct tape. Then cover the step unit with corduroy or another fabric that would give your dog traction. You could use duct tape or rope to delineate each step. And maybe put a cushion on top. Benedi, best wishes ☺️

You can buy $.60 pavers and stack accordingly.
