I found this giant vinyl covered cube at the thrift store, paid a little bit more than I usually do (15.00) but I’m sure the owner saw me coming as I am a weekly shopper looking for strange objects as such! I also visited the fabric store to purchase fabric for the daisy chair I posted a day age, so bought some light weight denim to cover the side table to accent my chair.
Here it is! It measures 16 inches on all sides.
I used my cutting board and rotary cutter to cut 6, 17 inch squares. That’s a half an inch per square to have a half inch inseam on all sides.
I sewed 4 of the squares together and fitted it around the side table to make sure it was snug enough, then I pinned the fifth square on and sewed the seams together. Make sure you cut the corners back on the inside so its not bulky when you fit it to your cube.
For the sixth square I only sewed one side as its the only way you can fit the foam table in.
I pinned the rest of the sides together and guess what?....hand sewed it. It wasn’t hard at all and didn’t take too much time.
I love to do embroidery and try to incorporate it in all the denim pieces I make. So here is my blanket stitch once again around the edge just to add a little of color.
And heres the finished piece next to the chair I posted a day ago. Makes for a perfect little get away to read a book and have a cup of tea or a glass of wine! Hope you enjoyed this project along with my chair and if you have any other denim ideas you would like to see let me know;)
