Spray your cleaner inside your track and let it soak a few minutes to loosen the dirt and soap scum. Straight white vinegar works great if you have hard water stains and it's cheap but don't take deep breaths or you will choke. Otherwise it won't hurt you. You can use a standard screwdriver that just fits inside your track and cover the end of it with a piece of an old rag taking a rubber band to keep it in place or you can use cue tips but the screwdriver will allow you to get in the corners better. Another option would be to use wooden popsicle sticks cut off square. If using the popsicle stick you won't have to cover it with a rag. This will allow you to scrape without running the risk of scratching your metal runners. Once you get the gunk out you can run a rag down the inside of your runner to get everything you missed out as well as any liquid left. To tell you the truth I use Mr. Clean sponges for nearly every cleaning job I have both inside and outside. I haven't found anything those things can't clean but inside your shower track you'd probably still need to use the wooden popsicle stick in the corners. Hope this helps.

Spray some shower cleaner on the rails, let sit for a few minutes, and wipe out the rails, rinsing your sponge or cloth often, until it is completely rinsed.
Ive tried that cleaner that starts out blue and turns white ...maybe Aluminum just can't be cleaned...but again Hotels manage to have sparkling tracks...thanks for replying
Spray some commercial mold and mildew cleaner in the tracks. Let it sit 5 minutes, and wipe with paper towel. Use Q-tips for the spaces you can't reach. An old toothbrush will do the job.
No I wouldn't use vinegar to take that dark stain out. It might do the trick but I don't know for sure. To do what your wanting the only thing I know that might work is go to your local auto parts store and buy aluminum cleaner. You might be able to find it at a big store like Menards, Home Depot, Wal-mart or Lowes. This stuff isn't soap it's a chemical that is suppose to bring old darkened aluminum back to life. Another place that would probably have it is a boat dealership that sells aluminum boats. At the very least they could probably tell you where to find it and if it would do the job for you.
Are you sure it's aluminum and not some kind of plating like chrome, because bleach doesn't hurt my aluminum track ...you didn't just leave the bleach on there did you? If you leave bleach on some metals too long it will eat it up....yuck!

leave it on for about 15 minutes, then scrub it with an old toothbrush and wipe it down with damp paper towels. If you have a spray attachment shower hose, spray it down with hot water. ..then wipe it dry...

aluminum will turn dark. I have found after cleaning I use a piece of wax paper and rub it on and it stays nice for about 2 months.
I use Scrub Free. It comes in a spray bottle and does not change color. It works on my aluminum rails really well. Perhaps try that brand.

Mean Green cleaner or CLR with a plastic knife wrapped in paper towel. Spray in the track & use the knife to scrape/scrub.
