My solar chandelier was starting to look a bit rusty so I decided to repaint and change out the solar lights.
First I used a wire brush and cleaned off the rust. I then wiped the chandelier down and because I had added glass jewels I protected them with painter's tape.
I used Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer for rust and because I ran out I grabbed Rust-Oleum rusty metal primer to finish up. Rust Reformer takes 24 hours to cure.
A few years back I had purchased these tulip solar lights from the Dollar Store and I had the idea to use them on the chandelier. When I went back to get more (I needed five) they were sold out!!
This year I decided to make a special trip to get flower solar lights. Apparently the Dollar Store sells these early in the spring and when they are gone, they are GONE. I bought 12 (learned my lesson) and they only had three colors available: pink, purple and yellow. This year they did not offer tulips so I have daisies (?).

In order for the flower to fit in my chandelier I had to cut off the stake. Easy enough with my shears. I measured my shaft and cut just enough off so the flower would sit on top.
Each holder was a little different in depth.
So whimsical!
Since there were only three colors to choose from and I had five holders I ended up with having to use three pink and two purple. If I used one yellow I would still end up with two purple and two pink; I wasn't going to win. I was not going to have even colors. Now I wish I had bought five of each color or had six holders! Oh well!
I think it makes a cute display for summer. Maybe I will find solar lights for each season/holiday!
I did a little tweaking. I bent the prongs closer to the base making it more balanced.
Just enough color and light for mood lighting!

Absolutely going to Dollar Tree tomorrow in hopes they will have some solar flower lights. I already have the perfect chandelier. Just need RustOleum paint. Thank you so much for sharing your idea.
