Anyone has experience renting containers?

Hi,
I live on my own and I'm going to be stranded soon. Well, I left a part-time job and the rent is overdue. I, err really don't like the landlord, I can afford to pay the rent but it's time for me to leave; I mean we aren't in really good terms with each other. Well, the thing is, like I said, I'll be stranded within a week. I'll need to rent out self-storage containers to keep all my belongings intact till I can find a new home. My friends aren't nearby so there's no one to help. Has anyone rented out one from one of those storage companies?

Do you want a Pod type storage where they deliver you a container, you fill it then they take away. If you do a pod, heed their packing instructions, if your stuff breaks, they are not responsible. Or a traditional storage facility? I have done both. If you go with the traditional storage facility, tour before choosing a unit. Make sure it is clean, (you do not want to retrieve your belongings bug infested), well maintained, well lit and has decent security. Purchase additional insurance for your belongings. Read the fine print, some have minimum requirements. Prices vary greatly in different parts of every city, it pays to compare.
The last container I rented was a u haul truck...sat in the drive for a week so the carpets could be cleaned, and the rest of my gear could be safe. At that time it was 50 usd. Per day. ouch.
I rented a POD and also found a guy recommended by PODS to help load it. I was EASY !!! They have them EVERYWHERE !!!
The pods are easy. Can get expensive. Make sure they are allow to be parked where you are. Or you pay a fine. After loading. They will take it to your new home or to their storage lot Until you want them to move it to your new home. The storage and extra travel is of course more costs.
If you opt for a larger size . It will go taller inside but not floor space.
So study the sizes. There are no bungies To hold things in place. So stacking upward can be risky.
Whatever you decide on, please ensure that you don’t put anything in storeage that might be holding water, eg washlng machine, freezer. Or the storage container could let in water. The water could quickly create mold on everything. I have seen this happen and it was dreadful. Maybe putting in containers, eg buckets, ice cream tubs, half full of cheap table salt. They gather a surprising ount of water. I do this when setting up caravan for winter. Very effective.

Be aware- If you walk out on a lease, your credit will be affected. You will have trouble renting the next place.
At a storage locker place. You can rent the size you need. My friend had one of these. He had it for a year. Worked out fine. He rented a truck and had friends to help. I have a friend now that is using one, and living in a motel while waiting for a new home to be ready. No friends in their new community . The lady running the storage locker place had a son that helped out unloading the truck for a fee.
