    Hello. I put a curtain rod up and hung curtains. It gave my dining room a more elegant look and feel. In winter I change them out with thermal curtains to help keep the room warmer.

    I would use gauze type curtains in Spring/ Summer and thermal lined curtains for Fall/ Winter

    I have heard of several people going to Lowe’s or Home Depot and getting the top quality drop cloths and making curtains from them. They are sturdy enough to be on the outside as well.

    If you are getting too much sun, I would suggest hanging a shade on the outside of the house for summer use.

    Canvas drop clothes are cheap andlook great.

    If you are seeking privacy, use frosted film for glass from the big box stores. They have a wide variety. It goes on with water and comes off the same way.

    As for keeping out sun, etc. look into using the barn doors technique...but instead of solid wood panels, put in a fabric on the back.
