Do I need to have a GFI on my garage wall outlets?

    I have them in my garage since that is where my water heater is located.

    Not unless you have a water supply. GFI are generally used in bathrooms and kitchens so that one does not get a shock.

    I think it depends on your state. But it's a good idea to have them everywhere. I also have them in my garage as Joyce mentioned.

    id say put them in the garage....cars wet from rain or snow drip.

    Yeah it does depend on your state electrical codes. In MN (where I'm at) its now required to put in GFCI breakers (in wet environments) or AFCI breakers literally everywhere else. To be safe I would just use a GFCI breaker for the line in your garage.

    I believe states are different, but here in AZ we have to have them in every room. Also kitchen and bathrooms have to have on every outlet. I think they are just a good idea, so I would do it.
