I have a project to make sea shells figurative mosaic on the wall. Please could you give an idea how to apply them with glues or cement?
Thank you.

Do not apply directly to wall, apply to a board and then Screw Board in place otherwise you will have a real problem if you ever want to change it or even clean it...........I would use a waterproof cement as for Tiles............

I did a large picture frame a few years ago . I caulked the shells with tub and tile caulk onto frame let dry then sprayed with a clear coat. Gives them a coating thats easier to dust and wipe off

    My pleasure.............

  • Love your shell collection! Think about how you will be cleaning this feature in the future, shells get really dusty and spiders love to hide in them. I agree with johnavallance82, Mount on a board and make it a removable feature. 🐚

Although I haven't done a seashell mosaic I have done work with sea shells. I made my daughter this mirror about 20 + years ago and I bet it has never occurred to either of us or her cleaner to clean it! Oh, I once owned something like is featured in the video. . . except mine was a round. Bought it at a yard sale. I have seen stunning work done with sea shells. The Portland Museum of art has a dress made of mussel shells and 20 or so years ago people were doing bureaus covered in seashells, really beautiful stunning pieces. For the mirror I think I used a glue gun but am not sure.

I would glue them to a board that I would then attach to a wall.

Thank you all for ideas. I have done some craft with seashells like vases, bridal bouquet, now I really want to make sea shell mosaic on wall. Looking for images of flowers or patterns . Below I attached some of my sea shells crafts.

I make sea shell mirrors for friends, and I use a hot glue gun. I wear a glove on my left hand to hold the shell and apply it, so I don't get burned.

I use a cool melt glue gun wherever I can. I made a big Mirror frame with seashells. Make sure you remove all the strings/cobwebs that are left to keep it neat. I then take a little paint brush with elmers glue & paint it between the shells a little bit a time then sprinkle sand into the spaces between shells. I think it looks more natural and finished off that way. I sometimes add other things like a little clear glitter mixed with the sand or a little pearl or a tiny sand dollar or starfish. Even charms or buttons too. Happy gluing!

Cool melt guns are Great for kids to use because they don't get as hot as Hot glue guns. You can even use them on balloons! They take different glue sticks. Word of caution! Once I thought I'd cover a lampshade with seashells, was great till I left lamp on and went out to eat, the glue melted and the shells all slid onto my table. LoL!!!
