For me inviting might include an area rug, a softened window treatment, and replacing the loveseat with an oversized chair and ottoman. I also think you have too many furniture pieces with only the one seating. Maybe you can eliminate at least one ( ideally two ) of them to make room for cushier seating.

Something lighter. You have to much dark furniture in a small space. Put a light colored rug on the floor.

A small sectional couch, area rug. Keep the small coffee table--maybe eliminate the larger one--depending on your space. Can you move the buffet to another area--perhaps placing a television on top. Take out the white/cream dresser. Paint the mirror frame white. Looks like you might have too much furniture in a small space.

    Hi Mary!

You have a lovely home! First thing you need to do to warm up this space is to add some plants! Living greenery can drastically change a room and make it warmer and more inviting. You get Tons of sunlight in that room so I don't believe it's too dark, so perhaps a ficus tree, or Elephant ear plant would give it the look you want! And cut fresh flowers (seasonal) will also add what you're looking for! Would love to see pictures of the after when you choose to do whatever you do! :) Remember!, it's your home, you live there so do whatever makes you happy! :)

I would suggest relocating that white cabinet. It seems out of place there. I'd replace the loveseat with two chairs... and put the smaller, round table between them. If you're really brave, I'd paint that buffet in a lighter color: cream, grey, beige... and then get an area rug to "define" that living space.

I think more color, more seating and plants would help. Get an area rug as a focal point to bring the toom together. Heavy furniture on the right weighs down the room. Either paint or remove. A valance coordinated with color of walls and area rug and pillows would help. it is difficult for people to enjoy the room if they have to sit together in a love seat.

You could try a slipcover or throw for the loveseat. Add some plants. If space allows, angle the cabinet that is to the right of the window. Add some color.

I agree..a really pretty slipcover..maybe bright florals...new pretty rug...and yes, angle the cabinet in the corner. Hanging plants are always a good bet..Ihave tons of them and you never notice the lack of furniture here :)

My first thought is no life.. every room needs a bit of "living" things.. I'd do an area rug, a slipcover for the loveseat to lighten the look, 2-3 plants.. Switch the chest in the corner and the end table, As is, the room looks very heavy on the right side.. long wooden piece and the chest on the same wall. I'd then add a larger sized tree--maybe a ficus, 2-3 orchids one on the chest you moved, another on the R. end of the big piece. Love what you have

I suggest painting the walls a lighter color such as a cream and removing the white cabinet and the long wood cabinet. I think two chairs separated by the small table in front of the window would open up that area, and the slipcovered loveseat or its replacement (with some colorful throw pillows which tie in the mirror frame color) along the wall instead of the long cabinet to give you a conversation grouping. The room would also benefit from more light (can't tell what lighting you currently have, if it's a center light, a multi-light chandelier made of wood or bronze would go well) and some live plants. Also, consider a rug which combines the colors of the room under the large coffee table.

I would't get rid of the loveseat, it's perfect for the room, but I would add 2 single chairs to place opposite the loveseat arranged in a conversation area. I would soften the room with a rug and drapes, perhaps some pillows. You have a good start - you just need the "homey" touches.

Thank you everyone! I made a few changes, what do you think? In time I will replace the loveseat and add curtains.

If there are any other suggestions, let me know:)

Lovely place you need two larger sofas being all the furniture is larger scale and add colorful rug and add accent pillows from the color in the rug.

I like the love seat, and your dog does too! lol Maybe you should just recover the cushions on the love seat in a lighter , airy color and try your hand at painting the frame of it.
